 T.G.I.F! But,

Yesterday was the BEST!

Heading up! The sun is shining, the roads are clear and the snow is calling...cODY!

The company was goofy, but oh, so nice!

Heading up, catching up with great conversation, and just soaking up the Vitamin D!

There it is! My mountain. Ok, yours too, if you grew up in Provo.

Overlooking Provo. Inhale, exhale.

And we're off!
We are so lucky to live literally 10 minutes away from Sundance Resort.
I grew up here.
It feels like home.
When I was little and in elementary school, Thursday's were the best days, not Fridays. Every Thursday we would bring our ski gear early in the morning to the elementary school shed where we would store it until the anticipated time of day would come and we could be excused early from school to climb aboard the bus and head up to Sundance to ski with all of our friends.

And then in H.S., this resort really got me in to trouble, because with a season pass, you'd find me up here everyday and not so much in class.
But, that's a confession that will probably get me in trouble again, ... this time from my kids!

I want to hang out at Sundance a little more. Did you know that they have an Art Shack up there where you can take classes any day of the week? Classes like photography (I could use this one!) pottery, jewelry making, printmaking, and drawing and painting. The classes are two hours and are $95. They supply everything and you go home with a new talent and something to show off. They have a couple of different times of day to choose from 10, 1, and 3pm.

Fun! I want in! How about you? check it out!

Well, I hope your Friday is amazing and that you live it up as much as possible over the weekend.
I am heading to Dixie.
I can't wait to tell you all about it and show you some fun pictures (hopefully! I'll be practicing my photog skills while I'm there.)

Tip of the day:
It's true that fun can just happen, but do you want to take chances? Plan for it, make it happen, create memories.

Accidental exercise:
I thought about recording what I burned snowboarding, 580 calories in 3 hours! But, I thought that this was fun too:
I burned 93 calories in 30 min. while I was getting fitted to my NEW BIKE!
I am a lucky girl. You can be one too. Go and get yourselves hooked up and SBR in Orem!

Have a memory making weekend, and I hope you get LUCKY!

Unfortunately, I didn't make it up to Sundance yesterday. But, never fear, I'm going today after snowshoeing and will actually get in a little more slope time than I would have yesterday.

The reason we didn't make it up is because my dogs got out of our back yard and were lost.

Ronin, our crazy beagle was found and we are so HAPPY!

But, sadly we are still looking for Kurri, our sweet little girl dog.

We are praying that she will show up soon!

Today I want to focus on nutrition. So excuse me for my frankness, but you might not be asking yourself these questions...
How many of you can relate to any of these symptoms:

Do you have headaches more than occasionally?
Do you tend to get colds or viruses each year?
Do you have a bowel movement less frequently than after every meal?
Do you have bowel movements that are not soft and easily passed?
Do you have diarrhea more than very rarely?
Do you get itchy or watery eyes and nose at certain times of the year?
Do you have allergies or hay fever?
Do you often get mucusy?
Do you get bloated after eating?
Do you have extra pounds that won't come off with diet and exercise?
Do you have puffiness in areas of your face or body?
Do you have dark circles under your eyes? Do you get heartburn?
Do you have gas more than occasionally?
Do you have bad breath or body odor?
Is there a thin white coat on the back of your tongue when you wake up?
Do you get cravings for certain kinds of foods, especially sugary, starchy, or dairy foods?
Do you have a tendency towards restless sleep?
Do you have itchy skin, pimples, or any other troubling skin condition?
Do you get pain or stiffness in your joints or muscles?
Do you have low moods or a foggy mind?
Do you find that you are forgetful, have difficulty concentrating, or can't find words?
Do you feel apathetic and tired?
Do you feel anger or bursts of crazy frustration?
Do you have higher than average sensitivity to odors?
Have you noticed a higher sensitivity to toxins in everyday life?
Do you use multiple prescription medications?
Do you use many possibly toxic chemicals in your home or work environment?
Do you have tingling or numbness on one side?
Do you have strange reactions to medications or supplements?
Do you have recurrent edema?

These all are signs of toxicity. I bet that everyone reading this list could say yes to at least one of them. Am I right? We just live in a very toxic world. It's a fact, and you don't have to be a hippie tree-hugger to agree with me. It's important to recognize that most of the toxins that get into our body come from the food that we eat. Other toxins come from the environment around us that we absorb through our breath and skin, and other toxins are created in our bodies through the stressful lives we lead.
But, It seems to me that we have the most power over choosing what we eat, so lets begin there.

I just finished a 21 day detox that made a huge improvement in my life. I actually have decided to keep going with it because I feel so great!
I have lost 10+ pounds!
And best of all, I feel way more energetic, balanced and clear-headed.

It's not a crazy drink only lemon water and honey kind of thing. You eat organic fresh fruits and veggies, clean, hormone free chicken, lamb, and fish, and drink copious amounts of fresh pure water.
Sounds good right?

I wrote a little about it in my other blog, check it here.  But, I have had so many people ask me about how and why I did it. So,  I have decided that I'd love to invite ya'll over to my house and we can over this detox plan together! Won't that be fun? We can juice and blend and think good thoughts and build a support group for each other. You will walk away with a plan in your hands filled with education, guidelines and of course the recipes. I think that it seems to people that doing something like this can be to hard to pull off on their own. You will see that it's not to hard, you can do it too! You will feel so great, and you will see that following this plan actually really simplifies your life. I'm excited to show you how.

If you'd like to come, (I'm aiming for one of the first two Saturdays in February) comment below and let me know you are coming, who you are bringing of course and which Saturday you prefer...and I will send you a personal invitation with my address and all of the details!

Tip of the day:
Start now by going to the grocery store and buying some organic fruits and vegetables, cut the caffiene intake and drink more purified water. That will give you a great head start!

If you can't wait! I can email you a copy of my plan for $4.99.

Accidental exercise: 103 calories doing my grocery shopping today in 30 minutes. It counts!

Have a nourishing and Godly day!

Mt. Timpanogas 1/25/11

A fresh new blanket of snow covered the ground again yesterday. I love it when it snows, if it's going to be cold outside, there may as well be snow. Now, I know people think I'm crazy, and I do agree with you peeps that hate driving in it, so I say, try not to as much as possible today. There is nothing better than bundling up and heading outside and walking, running or hiking outside as the "snowglobe snow" comes down on you. The air is fresh and crisp. Your lungs wake up and your blood starts pumping all in an attempt to warm you up from within.

So, I bundled up and headed for the trails behind my house. I climbed through the snow, luckily the cold made the muddy trail stiff and easy to climb without snowshoes. By the time I got to the point that is pictured above, I was peeling off the layers! Just as I got to the top, the sun appeared, "Laaaaaaa!". It didn't last long, but I was so glad it did, there is nothing more beautiful than Mt. Timpanogas covered in snow set against a blue sky. I could only imagine all of the fun that people were having on the other side of this mountain on the slopes at Sundance. I have got to get up there this week! Ok, how about today? Why not?

So, hello and welcome to my new blog "Fresh Air!" This is a great day to start my new blog, I've been writing a blog about my family and our day to day lives and occasionally have slipped in a few entries about what I do for health, nutrition and fun. Some people have said they love it when I write about these topics, but many people just want to see our family pictures (the relatives mostly). So, I'm going to dedicate this blog to all of the things that I love to do, make and see, and keep the other blog (slipperysand.blogspot.com) for the documentation of my family life.

So, a little about me and what I plan for this blog...I grew up always involved with athletics. I have very active parents (now in their late 60's and 70's, and they are still kicking butt!) that taught me through example that you should get outside and do something every chance you get, and that is what keeps you young. I don't think they will ever grow old, and I hope the same thing for me. I'm a Food and Fitness coach and my husband Trevor and I own a Personal Training and Gym Management company together named PHITpro. Before I did all of this, I was an Interior Decorator. I love to run, hike and snowshoe, compete in triathlons, go to art galleries, eat amazing food (outside if possible), cook healthy meals, garden, renovate houses, entertain friends, and pretend to be an "artist" sometimes, blah, blah, blah, etc, etc. So, you will see what I find "fresh" in all of these areas. I hope that you enjoy and will follow along. You are invited to join in on the fun. I'll be organizing groups to get out and DO the things that make living life fresh and fulfilling as well as sharing tips and ideas related to all that is mentioned above!

Tip of the day:
Yesterday, I burned 125 Calories just shoveling the snow off of my driveway. Accidental exercise counts too!
